The Emergency Department at Leighton Hospital has secured placements and funding for Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners within Emergency Medicine. You will be required to successfully complete the MSc Advanced Healthcare Practice over three years following the Apprenticeship programme at Manchester Metropolitan University, which will commence on 03/01/24.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established and cohesive team, led by a supportive group of Consultants and experienced ACPs.

The post holder will undertake a 3 year Master’s Apprenticeship programme in Advanced Clinical Practice. During this period they will work alongside their medical and ACP colleagues, gaining practical experience and knowledge in all areas of the Emergency Department (ED).

This will involve clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients presenting with an undifferentiated diagnosis. They will endeavour to deliver a high standard of care and ultimately become a reliable, proficient autonomous practitioner.

Following the successful completion of their Master’s Apprenticeship, a further commitment to become a fully credentialed member of the Royal College of Emergency Practitioners (RCEM) will be expected.

The post holder must be able to work independently within the four pillars of advanced practice, contributing to departmental leadership, facilitating learning, and clinical research/ audit, alongside their clinical skills. Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides a full range of hospital and community services for people across East Cheshire (population 399K) and West Cheshire and Chester (population 357K).

The Trust provides high quality planned and emergency care, cardiac, critical care, child health, maternity services and intermediate care at Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals Foundation Trust ED sees approximately 90,000 patients a year and functions as a Trauma Unit.

The new build Emergency Department was opened just over 12 months ago and is made up of a 6 bedded resuscitation room, a 16 bedded majors area, 8 bedded isolation area, and has its own Minor Injuries Unit and Paediatric Unit within it.

The Trust provides 500 beds and employs over 5,000 members of staff.
