RESPONSIBILITIES IN MEDICAL EDUCATION Responsibilities in undergraduate medical education in the following three areas: 1. This role will include weekly designated bedside teaching as well as some small group tutorials. How this is to be organised is at the discretion of the Undergraduate Tutor to meet the minimum standards for clinical placements set by the University of Manchester, Buckingham Medical School and other HEIs. 2.

Clinical Skills and Simulation Teaching Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has a well-equipped clinical skills department and a dedicated Clinical Skills Tutor. There will be an opportunity to assist in teaching clinical skills to the undergraduate students. This will comprise a small part of the educational commitment. 3.

The post-holder will be expected to attend operating theatre to assist consultants with major surgery, and there will be an opportunity to develop surgical skills. The post-holder will also work on the emergency surgery ward, helping to admit and assess patients with general surgical problems. There may also be a need to visit other surgical wards to review general surgical patients. There will be opportunities to work in general surgical and breast clinics.

RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE MEDICINE AND EMERGENCY CARE DIVISION The post will give excellent exposure to General Internal Medicine with opportunities to work in the Acute Admissions Unit, Care of the Elderly, Respiratory Medicine, Cardiology, Gastroenterology or Diabetes & Endocrinology at a IMT1 level. Placement will depend on the appointee's aspirations, clinical need in the Medicine and Emergency Care Division and also on placement of medical students. There will be opportunities to rotate into two or three departments over the year if that is considered appropriate.The nature of work will vary but will mostly comprise working on the ward alongside the medical team of trainee doctors under the clinical supervision of a Consultant. This will include attending Consultant and Registrar led ward rounds, conducting own ward rounds, ward work, supervision and training of junior trainees and medical students on the ward and working as a member of a wider multidisciplinary team.
