Due to continued growth our client situated in Heywood are looking for the following: Transport Manager
- JOB PURPOSE

To safely and effectively manage drivers, fleet, 3rd Party Logistics providers, budget, IT and other resources in a customer focused and cost efficient manner to meet business requirements and support profitable growth. To identify risks, issues and exploreopportunities, and deploy innovative solutions and techniques to improve Logistics service offering.

This role will report directly to the Multi Site General Manager, but will have a close relationship with the Warehouse Manager as well as the Sales Office and Bathshop321 management. Reporting to this person will be 16 employees.
- KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES

1. Efficiently plan and route up to 15 vehicles daily using Transport Routing Software Map Mechanics and Transend. Vehicles generally are multi-drop (up to 25 drops per day) with some full load/bulk requirements.

2. To ensure all communication devices are in use and are being used correctly and in full to the benefit of the operation (PDA's)

3. To oversee cost control and KPI performance, actively seeking to improve efficiency, reduce operating costs whilst meeting budget as a minimum

4. To manage 3PL providers by controlling expenditure, service excellence and purchase order management along with POD retrieval

5. To have appropriate controls and procedures in place to manage all aspects of customer service and communication

6. To be customer 'obsessed' by understanding and appreciating customer requirements and quality standards in order to exceed customer service expectations.

7. Maintain an excellent working knowledge of transport legislation and requirements for the best practice relevant to the transport industry.

8. Ensures that all Health & Safety are adhered to including H&S induction and training, operating procedures, risk assessments and near miss reporting / emergency procedures

9. Oversees vehicle management (owned/leased) by conducting safe vehicle operational checks, including tyres, bodywork, fluids, etc

10. To plan driver resource strategically to maximise capacity and utilisation of the fleet whilst reducing labour costs

11. Ad-hoc projects to work on from time to time and undertake other reasonable duties as required by Senior Management

12. To implement continuous improvement (CI) initiatives to improve processes, reduce costs whilst striving to enhance customer experience.

13. To be flexible and be able to offer support to other Branches in the event of increased demand / sickness, etc
- GENERAL

1. To be responsible for your own health and safety and that of your colleagues, in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act (1974) and relevant legislation, including reporting any health and safety hazard immediately you become aware of it.

2. To work in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations and Data Protection Act 2018.

3. The post holder may have access to material which is confidential. It is a condition of their contract of employment that they ensure that no confidential material is leaked from the department to unauthorised personnel.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
- QUALIFICATIONS

Good competency in Excel, Word and Transport Routing systems. Use of NAVISION desirable.

Good knowledge of health and safety legislation

Holder of CPC is desirable but not essential
- EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 5 years' experience working in similar environment

An experienced people manager - proven experience of leading and successful performance management and development of a team of staff

Experience of working in high pressured environment handling high number of orders

To have knowledge of routing on a National level (in some instances may have to cover other Branches)

Proven high customer service focus
