An opportunity has arisen for a Data Protection Assistant within our Data Protection Team at NHS Dumfries & Galloway.
- You will work within a small, dynamic team, where you will assist the Head of Information Governance to ensure NHS Dumfries & Galloway remains compliant with current data protection regulations, confidentiality legislation and professional guidance on all issues relating to the processing of personal data by our organisation.
- The post holder will be expected to:
- Have a general awareness of data protection legislation
- Keep abreast of current legislation and guidance
- Assist all staff with enquiries in relation to routine data requests
- Provide guidance on data protection, data sharing and confidentiality
- Assist with developing and delivering awareness training in data protection legislation to all departments, independent contractors, partner organisations and GP practices.
- Support Data Protection Team administrative Assistants with more complex issues.

**ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR CANDIDATES**:
**_NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week for _**_NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland _**_from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period, for which you would be paid, until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week._**
