**Job summary**:
We are recruiting a Senior Regulation Standards Officer to work within the Food and Plant Security Team (FPS) within the Regulation Directorate of Infrastructure, Housing and Environment. The Vision for Regulation is ‘Protecting and enhancing our Island’. As a key member of the FPS team you will play a pivotal role in delivering against this Vision, by:

- Acting as the islands ‘first line of defence’ by making sure that imported and exported goods are safe for islanders and our natural environment. With a special focus on goods as vectors for plant pests and diseases; the sustainable use of plant protection products; and the continuous review of the health of the island’s agronomy through surveillance activities.
- Ensuring all activities and plans are sustainable and fulfil our national and international obligations
- Being data driven and targeted to build intelligence that create options and choices that facilitate and enable trade without compromising our protective role
- Continuously improving our approach to risk management through data and stakeholder collaboration
- Exercising Official Controls from Farm to Fork in a manner that integrates activities from a food law and plant security perspective

Responsible for working as part of a specialised team to deliver effective regulatory services relating to Food, Plants and Pesticides, we are looking for an individual with the ability to assess whether activities within the Plant Health area comply with a portfolio of specialised legislation and who is open to expanding their agri-food knowledge into broader food law enforcement too.

We are looking for relevant experience and qualifications at Level 6 (degree level) working towards Level 7 (Masters level) qualification in a relevant specialism, such as agronomy, Agri-Food Science, Plant Health and Pesticides.

Equivalence or working towards Chartered status, for example Chartered Scientist Status (via a relevant body such as the Royal Society of Biology or the Institute of Food Science and Technology) or a higher Plant Health Professional qualification. A proven record of experience and achievement in a relevant field, profession or specialism is required together with knowledge of compliance best practices and regulatory risk management under National, UK or EU provisions.
