**Job summary**:

- The Transport and Infrastructure Section’s ‘Traffic Engineering’ team are responsible for a range of highway authority functions linked to the management and regulation of traffic on the Island’s roads, with the aim of ensuring that travel is safe and convenient for all road users. Intrinsic to this is the ongoing improvement of road infrastructure, the setting of appropriate traffic regulation (in partnership with parish authorities) and support for active travel.
- In order to develop the operational efficiency and resilience of our team we are looking to recruit a Technical Support Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a technically interesting area, in a busy but supportive environment.
- The role will involve working within a team of traffic engineers and technical professionals to provide administrative and technical support in a number of related fields of activity such as the:

- Assessment of public road safety concerns, managing correspondence and records, collecting site information, collating background data, ensuring the smooth running of review meetings by traffic / road safety engineering staff, tracking follow-up actions.
- Review and amendment of speed limits and other traffic regulations (in partnership with parish authorities). Preparation of reports, Road Traffic or Speed Limit Order amendment instructions (for the Law Drafting Office), and the oversight of road signage and marking changes.
- Day to day liaison with Parish Officers which may involve site meetings. The collection of field data such as site measurements, minor traffic surveys and the review of road signs and markings.
- Support public consultation in relation to proposed traffic regulation changes, such as the preparation of display materials, feedback surveys, etc.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of related business processes, policies and traffic legalisation.
- The role requires the post holder to be self-organised, have good written language skills, outgoing and able to acquire new technical and IT skills, including the use of Digital Mapping software.
- The post holder must be conversant with Microsoft Office Suite and hold a local driving licence.
