**Senior Clinical Assistant/ Administrator**

**School of Optometry and Vision Sciences**

We are looking for someone to provide comprehensive and professional support to the multi-disciplinary ophthalmic team in the NHS Wales University Eye Care Centre (NWUECC) in the School of Optometry and Vision Science, Cardiff University.
- The successful applicant will provide support maintaining the facilities and equipment, entering data and reporting outcomes from the service and co-ordinating placements. They will have responsibility for preparing our patients and undertaking some investigations, performing a range of tests and procedures. On a day-to-day basis in the centre, you will be the responsible person overseeing the facility and equipment with clinicians and placement students rotating through.
- This role is fixed term for 9 months and 0.8 FTE (4 days per week).**Salary**: £26,444 - £29,605 per annum, pro rata for hours worked (Grade 4)-

- Providing comprehensive and professional support to the multi-disciplinary ophthalmic team in the NHS Wales University Eye Care Centre (NWUECC) in the School of Optometry and Vision Sciences. - Provide detailed advice and guidance on NWUECC processes and procedures to internal and external customers (staff, students or members of the public), using judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action, and contributing to the solving of more complex issues.
- Work with others to make recommendations to improve our ways of working.
- Establish productive relationships with key individuals (University colleagues and external contacts) to help improve the level of service the team provides to its customers.
- Perform a variety of administrative duties to support the team and department achieve its objectives.
- Gather and analyse data including visual acuity, OCT scanning and visual fields and outcomes to maintain timetables of clinics so that informed decisions can be made, establishing basic trends and patterns in the data and providing reports and recommendations for management.
- Instruct and guide colleagues across the University and act as a day-to-day point of contact for NWUEC and be the responsible person for the day-to-day running of the facility as required.
