**Job Purpose**:
To lead CAMRA’s campaigns and communications division. Defines campaigning, communication and engagement strategy, with reference to wider organisational objectives and is responsible for delivery against objectives. As a member of CAMRA's Senior Staff team, play a key part in the development and delivery of all CAMRA strategic objectives.

**Key accountabilities**:

- Effectively lead, manage the performance of and develop direct reports and through delegated responsibility to those, be accountable for the performance and development of the Campaigns and Communication division (including Campaigns Team, Communications Team and Learn and Discover manager);
- Influence key stakeholders in matters of strategic importance to the successful performance of the Campaign;
- Strategic development and management of internal and external communications plans and processes, including membership publications and digital media engagement
- Strategic development and management of media engagement plans and processes
- Develop CAMRA’s campaigning policy and strategy proposals, using research and other forms of information gathering to support that activity;
- Formulate joined up engagement initiatives to deliver campaigning and wider organisational objectives, and both oversee and coordinate their execution;
- Measurement and reporting of performance against strategic objectives;
- Support the operation of relevant volunteer committees, and assist them in providing volunteer input to strategy and policy proposals to the National Executive;
- Support and enable volunteers working in committees and groups, and as individuals, to contribute to campaigning, communication and educational activity;
- Lead and coordinate the CAMRA staff’s support (secretariat and other) to external organisations;
- Lead and coordinate CAMRA’s interaction with external stakeholder organisations from the beer and pubs sector;
- Lead and coordinate lobbying of the Government, Parliament and regional assemblies and their departments, and with elected representatives and their staff in Westminster, Holyrood, Cardiff and Stormont;
- Lead and coordinate policy proposals and submissions to Government.

**Person specification - Essential Criteria**:

- Significant senior management experience, having been part of a leadership team and used to leading a variety of functions simultaneously;
- Significant experience of leading a Communications and/or Campaigns function;
- Effective as a leader who can demonstrate personal development of self and others, as well as managing and effecting performance improvements;
- Excellent and demonstrable understanding of how volunteer and membership organisations operate;
- Has the confidence, capability and personal approach to be able to influence stakeholders at every level;
- Can demonstrate personal and professional development of self and others;
- Experience of managing budgets, cost control, planning and forecasting;
- Financially literate with sound commercial judgment.

**Person specification - Desirable Criteria**:

- Understanding of the pubs and brewery industry
- Experience of working in the voluntary/membership/charity sector
- Experience of working with a volunteer board
