**Job description**:
We are looking for two experienced and enthusiastic Internal Communications Officers to join our communications team. DVLA is an executive agency of the Department for Transport (DfT). Our core responsibilities are to maintain over 50 million driver records, over 40 million vehicle records and to collect Vehicle Excise Duty for Her Majesty’s Treasury (HMT) which is currently around £7 billion a year.

The role will motivate, inspire and engage our staff, ensuring that staff not only know and understand what’s happening across the agency and wider government, but also what it means for them and the impact they have on the organisation achieving success.

The role will support the development and delivery of engaging internal communication messages, campaigns and events to agreed time and quality standards. You will work closely with stakeholders at all levels to understand business priorities and agree communication objectives.

The Internal Communications Officer will need to be flexible and adapt to the changing environment and will need to be able to plan and manage several campaigns simultaneously.
- Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Developing innovative and creative campaigns based on audience insight, using effective communication channels to engage audiences and maximise reach
- Writing and developing content in a way that engages and informs target audience using effective story-telling methods to maximise impact
- Delivering specific communications to agreed time, quality, and standard working with the wider business to achieve a successful outcome
- Continually reviewing internal communication processes with the aim of identifying improvements to processes and ways of working to deliver best in class internal communications
- Actively seeking and participating in communication learning and development to maintain professional standards.

**Person specification**:

- Passionate about communications you will be:
- A confident and experienced communications professional
- Ambitious about what communications can achieve and believe in its power to challenge perceptions, change behaviour and build strong, trusted relationships
- Experienced in working in a fast-paced environment and working to tight deadlines without compromising the quality or standard of your writing
- Resilient and confident in dealing with people at all levels and understand how important building and maintaining strong relationships with others has on delivering successful internal communications
- Understanding the value of regular evaluation to inform continuous improvement.

**Skills and experiences**
- Ability to develop and deliver imaginative and innovative internal communications campaigns that meet the needs of the message owner/audience
- Ability to write engaging content that captivates the target audience
- To quickly and comfortably translate complex information into plain English for all to understand
- Ability to adapt style and language of written content dependent on the channel, message, and audience
- Strong understanding of internal communications channels and how engaging communications can drive behavioural change
- Suitable experience of delivering content in a fast-paced environment
- Working knowledge of how insight can be used to inform continuous improvement
- Ability to establish and maintain strong, trusted relationships with colleagues at all levels to achieve positive outcomes.
