**Purpose**:
To support the Head of Safeguarding in developing, delivering, and promoting a safeguarding first approach to all our work with children and adults at risk.

**The Role**:

- Assist in the implement the defined strategy for safeguarding across MUFC Group, promoting a culture in which the safeguarding of children and adults at risk is at the core of our delivery of services, most notably Manchester United Foundation, Manchester United Women’s FC, Venue, Commercial and Media functions.
- Provide guidance and support in the safe management of welfare and safeguarding concerns, utilising the case management system to promote localised ownership and identification of trends and lessons learnt.
- Assist in the coordination of quality assurance and monitoring process to capture learning and amend policy, procedures and practices as a result in consultation with the Head of Safeguarding.
- Partner with the safeguarding network and operations managers to ensure safeguarding approaches are embedded within our programmes and partner organisations.
- Embed the safeguarding workforce development plan to increase organisational knowledge and awareness of safeguarding, ensuring that it informs decision-making processes within the MUFC Group.
- Support the coordination of specific projects aligned with the safeguarding strategy, most notably the match day safeguarding team, designated safeguarding officer network and MUFC Host Families.
- Contribute to the development and the delivery of promoting the voice of the child and parent/carer awareness of safeguarding training across all parts of the organisation.
- Provide relevant guidance and administrative support to key pillars of the safeguarding strategy, most notably risk assessment guidance, young workers/work experience and vetting protocols.
- Maintain your own development plan to enhance and develop the role specific skills and wider supporting skills required to maximise your professional effectiveness within the organisation

**The Person**:

- Whilst previous knowledge of how to manage safeguarding concerns and the associated safeguarding legislation is helpful, the following are non-negotiable. _
Skills & Knowledge
- Technical and practical knowledge in safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk by a relevant professional qualification - as safeguarding leader you will need to have a significant level of professional knowledge to provide the best safeguarding outcomes
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, able to manage conflict and handle difficult and or sensitive issues - The very nature of our work means we are called on to handle sensitive situations regularly.
- Able to supervise, mentor and support staff remotely - our team works flexibly and with teams based across the Northwest and remote support is vital to our success.

Experience
- Must have demonstrable knowledge of safeguarding in a range of settings and across diverse communities - Our young people come from a variety of backgrounds and circumstances, so a breadth of understanding is important.
- Experience of implementing change within safeguarding settings, working collaboratively across wider teams and empowering colleagues to be effective within all aspects of safeguarding practice - It is vital we work as one team alongside our delivery partners and other departments to ensure a consistent approach to all safeguarding challenges.
- Experience of building and maintaining relationships with external agencies, referral pathways and organizations - We build crucial relationships to ensure the most effective support for our young people and to deliver outstanding services
- Experience of performance improvement in a complex organization using all forms of data - We are committed to improving our practice in ways that are evidence based and robust. This gives clarity in complex situations and provides confidence to children and adults at risk, our workforce and stakeholders.

**Please note this role will include working match days and therefore flexibility around working patterns is required of the Safeguarding Advisor.**
