Trauma and Orthopaedics Admissions Supervisor, Band

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, well organised, committed individual to join the Trauma and Orthopaedic Admissions Team.
This role will be based in Cheltenham General Hospital. The successful applicant will provide an effective line management for a small admissions team. You will need to have excellent communication skills and be able to meet targets and deadlines. You will be able to work flexibly and meet the demands of a busy service in a dynamic and fluid environment. You will be the primary contact for ward and theatre teams and work closely with the across site admissions supervisor and the assistant general managers. You will ensure that patient’s pathways are managed according to RTT standards, working closely with a wider MDT to ensure theatre lists are appropriately utilised.
- Supervising a small admissions team - covering sickness and absence.
- Conduct regular 1:1s with staff including annual appraisals and performance reviews.
- Process cancellations and re-appoint patients whilst adhering to targets.
- Fully utilise all theatre and clinic capacity.
- To liaise with our elective ward and theatre teams.
- Validation of all patients’ pathways.
- Attend at weekly divisional theatre meetings.
- To check and update RTT reports for weekly meetings.
- Assist the assistant general manager with projects.

Trauma & Orthopaedics is a large specialty with 28 Consultant Surgeons who between them operate on emergency (Trauma) and elective (Orthopaedic) patients at Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General Hospitals.
To supervise a team of Admissions Coordinators within the Trauma and Orthopaedic Admissions department based at Cheltenham General hospital. This post holder will support the team to achieve the current RTT target. They will be required to liaise with theatre staff, ward sisters and the pre-assessment department. The post holder will be responsible for theatre utilisation, ensuring all theatre capacity is fully booked and attend weekly theatre meetings. The post holder will be responsible for the authorisation of annual leave, recording sickness where necessary and conducting 1:1s with the team. The post holder will also be responsible for validation of patient pathways using various Insight reports ensuring patients pathways are stopped/restarted accordingly. Post holder will also be responsible with supporting the assistant general manager with projects and reports.
