Your responsibilities will include gathering and consolidating feedback and a comprehensive list of tool requirements from relevant stakeholders. Moreover, you will be tasked with recognizing and implementing enhancement opportunities to optimise the tools and processes, thereby providing robust and resilient support for engineering in Tech Operations.

***Key Responsibilities**:
**Leading & Influencing**:

- Champion the adoption and management of software tools within the Central Engineering
- Identify and advocate for the right software solutions that align with departmental objectives.
- Contribute significantly to setting technical direction.
- Develop other engineers around you into more capable and experienced people.
- Provide mentorship and coaching for others across your department on technical craft.
- Responsible for your personal delivery towards team goals.
- Actively build good relationships and trust between the team and other stakeholders, embedding a 'one Ocado' approach.
- Actively supports recruitment through technical interviewing or other activities (eg. external PR & events)

**Design for Future**
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to promote the adoption of these tools.
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for the future software landscape of the Technical Support
- Input to commercial discussion with third party software supplier
- Support other teams to find ways to solve their problems.
- Look for multiple ways to solve problems and communicate effectively the benefits and drawbacks of each.
- Demonstrate a sound understanding of the technology that your team are working on & are able to act as a proxy for other stakeholders, where technical expertise is needed.

- Ensure the seamless delivery and implementation of software solutions.
- Configure software tools to meet the specific needs of the technical support team.
- Integrate selected tools into the existing workflow for immediate impact.
- Address immediate challenges or bottlenecks in technical operations.
- Actively contribute to the delivery of value with appropriate timeliness and quality.
- Actively look for incremental ways to enhance value.
- Help build clarity in the area about the technical strategy and support its implementation
- Help the team resolve difficult engineering problems through effective collaboration and guidance.
- Measurably reduces waste in the ways of working within your department.

**Execute with Quality**
- Plan, deploy, and manage technical support software tools with meticulous attention to detail.
- Conduct thorough testing and monitoring to maintain software quality.
- Promptly troubleshoot and resolve software-related issues.
- Ensure optimal performance and reliability of software tools.
- Pursue technical excellence with the economic constraints taken into account, with appropriate quality and security in mind.
- Ensure that your department's practices are informed by industry best practice.
- Champion security awareness across your department. Implement or direct security related work at the team level as appropriate.
- Make sure your Product's implementation can be diagnostically analysed, where practical, building in observability, in order to resolve faults and be maintainable.

**Support**
- Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for technical support staff on software usage.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation and best practices.
- Serve as a reliable source of support for all software-related matters within the Technical Support department.

***Key Experience**:

- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team of tooling engineers, providing guidance, support, and technical expertise to junior team members.
- Experience in designing and implementing complex, scalable, and robust software tooling architectures that meet the evolving needs of the organization.
- Proven experience in automating complex workflows, integrating various tools, and establishing streamlined processes to enhance the efficiency of software development and delivery.
- Proven track record of developing and executing long-term strategies for software tooling, aligning them with the organization's overall business goals and technological advancements.
- Experience in collaborating with executive leadership to define and align the software tooling strategy with the overall business objectives and to communicate technical insights effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to a wide range of audiences, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A strong inclination towards innovation and research, with a track record of evaluating and integrating emerging technologies and methodologies to continuously improve software development practices.
- Proven ability to address complex technical challenges and provide innovative solutions that optimize the software development lifecycle and enhance the overall efficiency of the organization's software development process.
