It's a fascinating and innovative place to work, and our engineering teams contribute to some of the most challenging and rewarding engineering solutions in the industry.

Within Ocado Group, our Technology Operations mission focuses on the full programme management life cycle of the implementation of our highly automated, multi-million pound grocery Customer Fulfilment Centres (CFCs). This department is instrumental in ensuring we deliver these CFCs on time, to budget, and to the specific requirements of each of our Solutions clients around the globe.

This particular role sits within the Implementation Engineering department within Central Operations; a team who looks after implementation of Ocado Smart Platform (OSP) products and associated supporting infrastructure to Ocado CFC projects on a global scale.

***About the Role**:
We have an exciting opening for a Senior Project Engineer, who will manage the implementation of OSP products and associated supporting infrastructure to Ocado CFC projects on a global scale. As an important part of the project team, you will work closely with the client's technical team and Ocado's internal departments such as Programme Management, Design Coordination, New System Integration, MHE SMEs, Supply Chain and Engineering Operations to successfully deliver the CFC project Go-Live.

Day to day, you will:

- Be the bridge between new product development and CFC projects, ensuring new systems are implemented into individual CFC designs seamlessly.
- Be the client-facing technical point of contact on behalf of the project team for new products and engineering challenges.
- Understand client needs, support creation of user requirements and communicate effectively with the project team and the client.
- Work with the Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and IT Infrastructure Subject Matter Expert (SME) team within Central Engineering to ensure a complete MHE BOM is provided to the Supply Chain for procurement and manufacturing for each project.
- Support Supply Chain and project teams for technical queries within engineering context
- Support regional project delivery teams during install, commissioning and testing phases with engineering related issue resolution.

Additionally, as a senior engineer and part of the technical leadership team, you will also be responsible for identifying process improvements, championing implementation of best practices across the team, supporting team leads in driving the team towards delivering goals, and mentoring junior members of the team.

Please note that as part of this role, international travel to client sites may be required.

***About you**:
You will have:

- A track record of project engineering experience in manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, airports, FMCG, distribution or similar field.
- Excellent technical and practical general engineering knowledge (mechanical and electrical).
- Ability to read, understand and work with 3D models of site designs, drawings and electrical schematics
- Experience in coordinating cross-functional project teams including third parties i.e. clients, suppliers and contractors.
- Experience in project planning (preparing cost estimates and schedules) and risk management.
- A Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electronic, Automation, Industrial or another relevant field), or equivalent engineering experience.
- Strong analytical, planning and organisational skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the aptitude to debate both technical and commercial topics, challenge expert opinions, and influence others.
- A creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to focus on details while maintaining the "big picture" view.

***This would make you stand out from the crowd...**
- A Project Management qualification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, etc.).
- Solid knowledge of robotics, automation and MHE systems.
- Excellent understanding of product life cycle (development, testing, production, installation and commissioning).
- Experience in working on international projects within different time zones.
- Hands-on experience in installation and commissioning of products and/or systems.
- Advanced MS Excel/Google Sheets user and ability to use project management tools (e.g. Jira, Planisware, MS Project etc.).
