Community Vaccinator

Abingdon, United Kingdom Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Are you a registered Nurse/Midwife looking for a new challenge? Do you enjoy working in a busy and varied environment? Would you like to develop your knowledge and experience of immunisations?

Come and join our expanding immunisation team.

We are looking for Community Vaccinators (Registered Nurses/Midwives) preferably with some immunisation experience to help deliver the School Aged Immunisation Programme in Primary, Secondary and Independent Schools as well as other community venues.

The ability to be flexible to meet the needs of the Service is essential, as is a willingness to explore alternative methods of immunisation delivery to reduce health inequalities in hard-to-reach groups.

The role offers a flexible working pattern, to meet service need. Although you will work from your base you may be required to attend other areas of the county, if required, either to vaccinate in schools or attend promotional events to increase immunisation uptake.

You will be offered the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills through regular training and study days and by working alongside experienced colleagues.

More than 6,000 people every day come to work at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, providing physical, mental health and social care across the Thames Valley and beyond.

Benefits of working for Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust include:

- Excellent opportunities for career progression
- 27 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, with an increase to 33 days with continuous service
- NHS Discount across a wide range of shops, restaurants and retailers
- Staff accommodation
- Competitive pension scheme
- Lease car scheme
- Cycle to work scheme

You will be well organised, a strong communicator with good IT skills. Previous experience of working in schools or other environments with children and young people is advantageous but not essential. This is a fast moving and very busy role so the ability to work well under pressure and to be a key team player is a must. We are looking for adaptable, flexible people with excellent skills who will enjoy working in a challenging and busy environment. We have various posts up to full time, on either a term time only or all year round contract.

To ensure vaccination sessions commence on time the postholder may need to start from 07:30 on prearranged days, therefore flexibility in start times is required.

Applicants must have a full valid driving licence and have access to a car for work. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010.

**Please note**:

- New starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale.
- Employees are expected to undertake mandatory and statutory training related to their role.
- Oxford Health is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Please see the job description and person specification attached to this advert for more information on the job role.
