DefencePrimary Health Care (DPHC) Central and Wessex region are looking for a dynamic,organised, and efficient Band 5 Practice Nurse who will beworking within our Primary Health Care team at Abingdon Medical Centre (Dalton Barracks).

Abingdon Medical Centre is asatellite clinic of Benson Medical Centre and whilst the majority of the timeAbingdon will be the base station for this role there may be requirement forthe successful applicant to work from Benson Medical Centre as required.

Main duties of the job

As the successful candidate, you will work as partof a multidisciplinary primary healthcare team, leading the delivery of primaryhealthcare nursing including elements of occupational health.

Due to the nature of the business, it would bebeneficial if you have prior experience of primary care. Please see theattached Job Description and Person Specification for more information.

We are searching for someone who is able towork unsupervised, providing high-quality nursing care to the medical facilitypopulation at risk holding an individual case load, and through consultationidentify, assess, and manage the care of patients with complex health needs,minor injuries, minor illnesses, and specific diseases within their level ofcompetence.

Manyof our practices are networked and linked to provide support to each other. Onoccasion within your planned working schedule, you may be requested to work atthe linked practice site. In these situations, travel time and cost will beallowed for.

Training and Preceptorship will be provided todevelop your skills and knowledge to work effectively in our teams.

Job responsibilities

Asthe successful candidate your duties include but are not limited to:

Providing specialist high-qualityperson-centred primary care which always considers peoples safety, privacy and dignity usinghigh quality clinical knowledge that is evidence based, with use of corehealthcare guidelines. Being responsible for the delivery ofappropriate treatment, screening, and advice to patients within theirprofessional competence and in accordance with (DPHC) clinical guidelines andprotocols Providing safe, evidence-based, efficient,and individualised patient care Undertaking preventative healthprogrammes such as travel and vaccination clinics, new patients screening, audiometry. Undertaking technical nursingtreatments and procedures for patients complex/specialist healthcare needs (,wound care, sutures removal, Electrocardiograms (ECGs), Cytology, Audiometer,Ear Care) Providing specialist advice andsupport to patients, their families and other healthcare professionalsfollowing assessment, diagnosis and through treatment

The successful candidate will be required toprovide evidence of the following:

Professional/clinical knowledgeacquired through training to degree/diploma level. Registered Nursewith live registration on Part 1 Subsection 1 (RN1/RN(A)) of the UK NMC register.

The sift will be completed within 5 working days of the vacancy closing date. Interviews will be held on a date to be confirmed.

All employees joining Ministry of Defence who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a 6-month probation period (unless otherwise advised) effective from the employment start date.
