**About you**

**Experience**:

- Training in voice across a range of styles;
- Teaching children and young people;
- Ongoing performing at a professional level.

**Skills and knowledge**:

- Comprehensive knowledge of vocal technique and repertoire, with a focus on a range of contemporary /pop singing styles.
- A range of approaches to songwriting and music creation
- Knowledge and skills in inclusive music practice
- Ability to share passion for music and inspire students
- Flexibility with students of different ages, levels of knowledge, and learning styles
- Safeguarding in education contexts

- An inclusive approach to working with children and young people

**It also helps if you have**:

- Experience in musical theatre or other genres
- Experience of teaching through online platforms
- Familiarity with ABRSM

**About the role of **CAT **Vocal** Tutor**

Make Music, Young People is a leading musical training programme for young people aged between 4 and 19. It supports young musicians to develop the skills and confidence to reach their musical potential through world class specialist training, tuition, and inspirational opportunities to work with international visiting artists. The Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) is an integral part of our Make Music, Young People Programmes. It is one of a network of CATs, which create environments for young people with musical potential to thrive. The Centre for Advanced Training at Sage Gateshead is the most advanced part of the Young People Pathway where young people can realise their potential as musicians.

The Centre for Advanced Training Vocal Tutor will be part of the CAT tutor team working within Young Musicians Programme. The role will involve teaching young people aged 10-19 on Sundays during term time at Sage Gateshead or occasionally on Sage Gateshead’s Online Platform.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
- Attend team meetings, line management meetings and planning meetings as required
- Teach students on Sundays in group and individual lessons
- Have a thorough understanding of relevant vocal technique, exam boards and qualifications (ABRSM, LCM etc.) and where appropriate, support students in developing skills and repertoire in preparing for exams
- Contribute and create relevant and effective resources to support teaching and planning
- Work closely with colleagues to connect CAT programmes and students with Sage Gateshead’s artistic programme
- Contribute to quality assurance of the programme and make reasonable modifications as required
- Contribute to programme monitoring and evaluation as required
- Make sure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed and contribute to high quality pastoral care for students, working closely with relevant colleagues to maintain consistency and high standards
- To accept appropriate individual responsibility for the observance, promotion and implementation of Health and Safety, Child protection, Equality and Diversity and other policies within the Trust;
- Undertake other duties appropriate to the post and in line with the needs of the organisation
