**The role**

We are seeking an experienced finance professional to help us level-up our finance operation This person will have a drive for excellence, a keen eye for how things can be done better and be excited about an opportunity where they can have a significant impact quickly. The role will be a 12-month fixed-term contract in the first instance to start asap.

This will be a hands-on role where some element of financial processing will be required, whilst also having great opportunity to lead on a variety of business improvement projects.

**What you will be doing**

**Ongoing day to day responsibilities**
- **Manage the day-to-day accounting operations**, taking a hands-on approach in getting things done. Specifically, this will include:

- Accounts payable and payment runs
- Accruals and prepayments
- Bank reconciliations
- Monthly payroll processing
- Quarterly VAT returns
- **Carry out month-end processes in accordance with GAAP and other applicable standards, producing insightful monthly reports** for the management team and board of directors.
- **Regularly update and lead conversations on the company’s budget and forecast,** working with the management team to clearly understand the impact of forecast changes and support strategic decision-making.
- **Carry out the year-end process**, to include preparing and submitting annual financial statements, taking a lead on any audit requirements.
- **Prepare and submit annual R&D tax credit submissions.**
- **Lead on issuing all documentation for equity issuances**, ensuring appropriate filings are made timely.
- **Undertake the company secretarial function,** ensuring all required documentation and filings are made timely.
- **Prepare and submit annual P11d submissions.**
- **Lead on coordinating company insurance renewals,** working with brokers to ensure asset risk is appropriately managed.
- **Coordinate and manage the annual budgeting process**, working closely with the management team to develop accurate and achievable financial plans.
- **Collaborate with external stakeholders,** including auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities, to ensure timely and accurate reporting and compliance.
- **Provide financial best practice advice and suggested operational improvements to the management team**, continuously seeking ways to improve effectiveness.

**Initial project responsibilities**
- **Review, develop and implement the company’s monthly management reporting pack and, budget & forecast management tools.
- **Review, develop and implement improved internal controls** to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
- **Develop and implement improved processes for project cost tracking**, enabling improved reporting abilities.
- **Develop and implement improved processes for fixed asset management**.

**What qualities you bring to the table**
- CGMA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent qualification, plus 3+ years’ experience in a finance or accounting role, with demonstrated expertise in financial management, analysis, reporting, and compliance. Experience working in a startup or high-growth company environment is a plus.
- Proactive and results-driven with proven experience in driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Proficiency in financial modelling, budgeting, and forecasting techniques, using Excel or other relevant software tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
