**Job Description for Finance Assistant**

**Responsibilities**:

- Ensure daily reconciliation of the two main bank accounts and weekly reconciliation of other bank accounts.
- Conduct weekly reconciliation of cash income
- Execute fortnightly payment runs for the purchase ledger
- Generate sales invoices in accordance with contracts
- Manage monthly direct debit collections
- Perform monthly credit card reconciliations
- Post accruals, prepayments, accrued income, and deferred income journals as part of month-end procedures.
- Compile debtors listings and communicate with appropriate departments for follow-up
- Prepare quarterly VAT returns
- Assist the Finance Director with month-end and year-end tasks

**Essential Skills and Competencies**:

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel with basic skills such as sum, average, sort, and filter functions.
- AAT Level 3 certification or equivalent relevant experience
- Previous experience handling direct debits and VAT returns
- Strong attention to detail

**Desirable**
- Proficient in advanced Excel functions such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.
- Experience using Sage 200 software.

**Location**

Abingdon

Hybrid role - minimum of 3 days a week in the office.

**Compensation and Benefits**

**Salary**: £24,000 per year

Working Hours: 35 hours per week
