**Job description**:
You will lead our communications insight team to produce useful and actionable audience insight, upskilling the wider team to use insight more effectively to develop and evaluate our media and campaigns. You will advise on the most appropriate insight techniques to deploy to inform decision-making. This could range from focus groups to understand how the public experience anti-social behaviour, to polling to track awareness and understanding of issues tackled through our campaigns.
**Person specification**:
1. Produce insight, research and evaluation to inform our communications and make sure we reach our audiences at the right time with messages that will have an impact;
2. Monitor and evaluate communication activity and produce high quality and timely reports, including advising Ministers and Senior Officials.
3. Commission and manage agencies, their products and services, and project budgets.
4. Represent the communications team at cross government networks - and externally with the insight profession and sector partners.
5. Lead, manage and develop a small team, ensuring projects are properly resourced and delivered on time and to a high standard.
6. Empower, motivate and inspire the insight team to deliver great work, taking responsibility for performance and development.
7. Upskill the wider team in evaluating campaigns and media strategies through workshops and other learning experiences.
8. Play an active part in the Senior Management Team, role modelling excellent leadership behaviours, and deputising for the Grade 6 head of marketing and campaigns where needed.
