The postholder will be expected to develop strong and productive relationships across Cheshire with community organisations, other Council services and Higher Education institutions, including community history groups and residents affected by the project. Working with a Community Engagement Officer appointed earlier in the project and other members of the Archives team you will plan, coordinate and deliver the projects and activities in the Activity Plan.

Educated ideally to at least degree level, you should have experience of working with partners in the public and voluntary/community sector to develop and deliver successful archives/museums/heritage initiatives and projects. You should also be aware of best practice in engaging a diverse audience with archives/museums/heritage and be skilled at building effective, positive relationships with community organisations. It's important that you have the ability to work on your own initiative with minimum supervision, but also enjoy working within a wider team. We are also looking for someone who has excellent organisational and time management skills and who is able to effectively communicate to a wide range of audiences in a variety of ways. You should have good presentation skills and be confident with using a range of video conferencing platforms (in particular MS Teams) for meetings, informal conversations and delivering workshops or presentations.

You will be working from the Record Office, from home and from the new centres once they open in Winter 2025/6. There will also be a requirement to work elsewhere in Cheshire from time to time. It is anticipated that the main geographic focus of this role will be the western half of the county.

Cheshire West and Chester Council are committed to equality and diversity in employment. Please see the Equality Policy for more information.

Cheshire West and Chester Council have adopted a Local Living Wage for our employees which means that all employees will receive a minimum of £12 per hour for all contracted hours.
