**Job description**:
The role being recruited through this campaign will sit within the Broadband Regulation and Investment Team (BRIT) - specifically within the Barrier Busting Task Force.

BRIT sits within DI, and its role is to create and deliver broadband policy for the UK government, across all types of fixed broadband networks.

Our current projects include ensuring the delivery of our £5bn investment in Gigabit networks meets our policy objectives, tracking and supporting commercial roll-out by industry by removing barriers to deployment, facilitating the transition to fully digital networks and monitoring and designing interventions using novel technologies to reach the most challenging locations in the UK.

The Barrier Busting Task Force are a high-profile, high-performing team at the forefront of creating an environment that supports investment and the nationwide delivery of gigabit broadband and 5G infrastructure.

We do this by identifying and removing barriers which are slowing down roll-out of digital infrastructure. Our work is varied, ranging from designing, delivering and implementing legislative change, to developing relationships with key stakeholders and mediating between groups when challenges arise.
- The role will focus primarily on the implementation of Part 2 of the Product Security & Telecommunications Infrastructure (PSTI) Act 2022. This Act passed several measures designed to support quick roll-out of gigabit broadband and 5G infrastructure, whilst simultaneously protecting private property rights.
- Although the PSTI Act became law in December 2022, some parts of the Act require further work before they can take effect. The post holder will take on leadership of implementing parts of the Act which require public consultation, followed by development of regulations. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to:
- Develop fresh government policy based on evidence provided through consultation.
- Advise ministers on the development of the regulations which deliver those policy positions.
