**Biodiversity Researcher [FTC]**

Climate X is a purpose-driven climate adaptation data company set to revolutionise how the world manages assets, property, and infrastructure.
- We are engaged in a grant which will begin on 10_th_ July and continue for 7-8 months. _
- The acceleration of biodiversity loss, combined with the threats it poses to the climate, the spread of_ _disease and the economy means there is a global need for innovative solutions to slow biodiversity loss,_ _and mitigate the negative impacts of losses already incurred._
- The use of satellite-derived data presents a unique opportunity to address the biodiversity problem in one_ _of the UK's largest economic contributors, the financial services sector. We (Climate X) seek to develop a_ _Biodiversity Impact Scenario Monitor (BISM), using: _
- _satellite data,_
- _complementary terrestrial data sources, and _
- _enabling technologies_
- in a physics-first approach, to provide granular detail of business asset impacts on specific biomes_
- (distinct geographical regions with specific biodiversity and climate), whilst identifying, understanding_ _and predicting the impacts and dependencies of business on nature, and nature on business._

**The impact you'll own**

As Biodiversity Researcher, you will collaborate with our remote sensing scientist to develop indicators that assess the impact of businesses on nature and the impact of nature on businesses. This role will play a crucial part in our organisation's commitment to sustainable practices and aligning with the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) framework.

You will research and analyse the interrelationships between biodiversity, ecosystems, and business operations across various industries.

You will develop robust methodologies and indicators to quantify and monitor the impact of businesses on biodiversity and ecosystems. Conversely, you will create indicators to measure the impact of changes in biodiversity and ecosystems on business performance, risks, and opportunities.

**Essential Skills**
- A PhD or MSc or relevant research experience in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biodiversity Conservation, or a related field.
- Proven experience in biodiversity research, impact assessments, and ecosystem services valuation.
- Ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audience.

**Desirable Skills**
- Experience working with remote sensing data and techniques is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in data analysis and statistical software.
