Screening Administration Coordinator

Gloucestershire Breast Screening undertakes 38,000 screening invitations per year, 1100 Further Assessments (including biopsy) and 13,000 Symptomatic examinations per year
In conjunction with the Service Lead and the Programme Manager the postholder will ensure the delivery of a quality, safe and effective breast imaging service (Screening & Symptomatic) for Gloucestershire, providing support to the senior management team to ensure changes are instigated as required
The Postholder will have responsibility for the effective line management providing leadership and day to day management of the administrative and clerical staff. The postholder will need to have an understanding of sometimes complex mammographic and MRI reports to gain an understanding of procedures required and time allocated to each patient and to liaise with clinical management to ensure that appropriate clinical staff are available to ensure smooth running of clinics. They will be responsible for managing the recall assessment patients. The postholder will liaise closely with the Breast Symptomatic team with regards to clinic cover and admissions for diagnostic and surgical procedures.

The Gloucestershire Breast Imaging Department is part of the wider Breast service and currently operates from Thirlestaine Breast Centre in Cheltenham. The team is friendly, welcoming and supportive.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Aptitude Required
- 5 GCSE including English & Maths at Grade 4 (C) or above, or equivalent
- Experience of working in a supervisory/management experience in a large complex organisation.
- Excellent keyboard skills
- Knowledge and experience of the PACS system.
- Experience in the management, interrogation and analysis of specialist databases with advanced IT skills (including proficient use of all Microsoft packages
- Specialist knowledge of the NHS Breast Screening Programme.
- Specialist knowledge of the BS Select System.
- Knowledge of various hospital computers systems including CRIS, Trakcare, Infoflex, PAS and P2P.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiating and influencing skills both written and verbal to lead and support staff which may sometimes be contentious and conflict with expectations of senior medical staff.
- Experience of developing services by using initiative and thinking creatively to generate ideas and possible solutions to improve service delivery.
- Audit, monitoring and evaluation.
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Ability to effectively prioritise workload whilst dealing with constant interruptions and resolving unforeseen problems as they occur.
- Knowledge of cancer pathways.
