Gloucester, United Kingdom Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust Full time

The Gloucestershire Perinatal Community Mental Health Team currently provides mental health support and services for women, birthing people and their families during pregnancy and up to 1 year after birth.

In line with the NHS Long Term Plan the service has expanded to see more women overall and to be able to offer treatment to some women in to the second year postnatally.

Due to this development Community Support Worker posts have been created and we currently have a vacancy.

The team prioritises those with serious and complex mental health needs including women/birthing people who have experienced serious mental health episodes in the past and are currently well.

We also provide specialist consultation, training and advice to a range of mental health, maternity and primary health care services.

We are looking for someone with a special interest in improving care for women and their families. Experience of working in the Perinatal Mental Health field is desirable; a keen interest in this specialist area is essential.

All applicants must have excellent communication skills and mental health care experience with a proven ability to record observations and care delivered, clearly and concisely.

The successful post holder will provide essential support to senior clinicians to deliver specialist assessment and treatment to women, birthing people and their families, during the perinatal period.

**Key duties include**:

- Accurately recording service user information
- Providing support to carers
- Assisting in the provision of care and treatment of clients in a community setting, under the direction and supervision of senior practitioners
- Assisting care co-ordinators or key workers to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual care plans

As a Community Support Worker you will be responsible for participating and assisting in the delivery of care / services to patients and service users as part of a Mental Health and Social Care Health Service. Health Care Assistant, Social Care Workers and other Healthcare Support Workers employed by the Trust are required to follow the guidance set out in Code of Conduct for Health Care Assistants/ Health Care Support Workers to provide safe and compassionate care of a high standard, and to challenge others who are not.

You will receive direct supervision and partake in reflective practice / training on a regular basis and be required to meet the Care Certificate standards.

At Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust, we are supportive of the people we care for in the community and aim to provide a fully responsive service to everyone who needs it. This is the same approach we take for our employees. We look to value the skills and experiences of those we work with, whether they are service users, carers, families or those looking to work with us.

Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust is part of the NHS. We treat NHS patients according to NHS principles and standards. The difference is the Trust is accountable to local people, rather than to Government, and so we are able to work closely with our community to develop services in the way that best suits the needs of local people.

Our overall scores were better than average in eight of nine themes and level in one - the best overall results for a community, mental health and learning disabilities Trust in the south west and first equal amongst all sector NHS providers within the region too.

As a Health Care Assistant/ Support Worker you will be responsible for participating and assisting in the delivery of care / services to patients and service users as part of a Mental Health and Social Care Health Service.

All successful applicants will also have the opportunity to discuss the prospect of undertaking a Level 3 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship alongside their substantive post. This apprenticeship would include the Level 3 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare.
