Key Responsibilities of a Health and Safety Adviser:

- To support the Corporate Health and Safety Manager with administrative tasks including but not limited to processing invoices and monitoring payment schedules, systems management and oversight of health and safety reporting systems.
- Plan and advise on implementation of action plans to address priorities for health and safety improvements were identified or required at department, service, or team level. Programmes will include creative and innovative ways of promoting positive H&S action.
- Provide sound and timely competent health and safety technical and legal compliance advice and assistance in all areas of workplace health and safety to ensure and support effective health and safety management systems at departmental level in the Councilstructure and for all Council services.
- To project manage improvement activities as identified in either the yearly service plan or as they arise in the departmental portfolios, either through previously acquired Agile experience or willingness to undertake Agile training.
- Support managers in all Council services to ensure safe working environments and work practices for staff and contractors.
Experience & Qualifications:

- First degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related discipline with experience, or NEBOSH diploma or certificate, or NCRQ diploma or certificate in applied health and safety, or equivalent level qualification.
- CMIOSH membership or be GradIOSH working towards chartered membership or hold equivalent professional memberships in IIRSM.
- A comprehensive and working understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
- Significant experience in the field of occupational safety and health in a large, complex organisation and in particular in health and safety management systems.
