**Job summary**:
His Majesty’s Naval Base Clyde (HMNB Clyde) is home to the United Kingdom’s Strategic Nuclear Deterrent, Astute Class Attack Submarines, Sandown Class Mine Hunter Vessels and 43 Commando Royal Marines. It is an operational support and maintenance Naval Base within Navy Command and comprises both Faslane and Coulport sites.

HMNB Clyde’s primary purpose is to provide engineering and logístical support to the Royal Navy in maintaining Continuous at Sea Deterrent (CASD). This is achieved by ensuring at least one Vanguard Class submarine is on patrol at sea every day of the year.

RNAD Coulport is responsible for the storage, processing, maintenance and issue of the Trident Weapon System and the ammunitioning of all submarine-embarked tactical weapons.

HMNB Clyde will be the single operational home of the Submarine Service from 2020 and will become the United Kingdom’s Submarine Centre of Excellence. Creating this single integrated operating base is to ensure that the Royal Navy is able to deliver its operational commitments across all Defence Lines of Development from Scotland on an enduring basis.

The HMNB Clyde Security Organisation (CSyO) is responsible for the Force Protection measures that protect both Faslane and RNAD Coulport sites from a wide range of threats against the establishments and their outputs, including the Continuous at Sea Deterrent, SSBN and SSN submarine programmes, and the Nuclear Weapon programme.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

**Job description**:
An established part of this organisation is the Counterintelligence (CI) Section. A rare opportunity has come available to join the Section as a CI Aftercare Officer, a position which is the focal point for HMNB Clyde Personnel Security Aftercare procedures and casework for all personnel within the establishment. The job holder will also have responsibility for undertaking all work activity associated with Restricted Country List (RCL) travel and contacts by Base personnel with RCL Nationals ensuring that the appropriate CI briefs are conducted, and advice communicated to the Naval Base community. An additional key effort of the CI operation is to deter, detect, disrupt and exploit Insider Threat and risk activity and the post holder will hold a key position within the Insider Threat Detection function within the CI Section.
- Focal point for all aftercare procedures and reporting in order to support the CI effort and identification of insider threat activity.
- Provide assistance to Unit Security Officers and Line Managers with regards to their Aftercare and Personnel Security responsibilities.
- Conduct spot checks and audits to ensure the aftercare reporting and security vetting renewal process is being followed.
- Provide support to the CI Casework Officers for the receipt of all Security Incident reporting that will require a CI enquiry or investigation.
- Carry out effective case management, and create, maintain and update CI records, including case files and IT records. Conduct searches of databases and research of Open-Source material and submit reports to CI Officers.
- Liaise with CI Officers to ensure that all bookings for security travel briefs and de-briefs are undertaken and records maintained.
- Maintain database of Sensitive Posts at HMNB Clyde and ensure that CI records are maintained.
- Maintenance of the Section's classified record keeping.
- Support CI Officers by ensuring that administrative support is provided.
