**Job description**:
The coming year is a great opportunity to increase IfATE’s profile. The successful applicant will be given the chance to be at the forefront of this charge toward a more confident Institute, taking a key role in developing channels and creating content.

They will work to keep on improving IfATE’s web presence, focusing in on accessibility, readability, useability and navigability.

They will play a leading role in the development of IfATE’s social media channels, and the creation of digital content including videos, animations and podcasts.

The individual will clearly understand the value of a strong communications grid, and working closely with the entire organisation and key external stakeholders such as the Department for Education, to make sure activity takes place in a strategic way.

They will have a clear commitment to plain English, and an ability to convince internal stakeholders of its value.

They will also be given a chance to support with in-house graphical design.

The Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education works to equip people from all backgrounds for skilled occupations, helping every employer and individual get the skills they need to succeed.

We are an employer-led organisation, tasked with setting and maintaining high quality apprenticeship standards and technical education qualifications.

We work with a range of stakeholders including employers, training providers, professional bodies, ministers, parliamentarians, the Department for Education and other government agencies.

The role sits within the communications and external affairs team. It reports to the head of digital channels.

**Person specification**:

- Create communications and stakeholder engagement plans, contributing to the IfATE communications grid and following best practice
- Contribute to the management and development of the IfATE digital channels, including the website, and social media
- Create high-quality video, podcast and animated content, alongside any other appropriate digital tool to help spread the Institute’s message
- Contribute to the delivery of a project to improve the Institute’s website
- Model best practice across IfATE on readability, useability, accessibility and navigability in the digital space, retaining clear commitment to plain English
- Evaluate digital activity and show clear measures of success
- If possible, provide graphical design support across IfATE

We are looking for someone with a clear understanding of how to proactively manage and positively develop the digital communications channels of an organisation. The individual will be ready to hit the ground running, playing an active role in the wider team to make sure that digital communications best practice is followed.
