Job Title: Marketing and Communications Officer

Reporting to: Head of Fundraising and Marketing

Location: Based at either the Lancaster Centre (Slynedales), or Lakes Centre (Kendal) with travel around the geographical area

**Salary**: £26,000 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours, permanent (flexible working hours and flexible working arrangements in line with the job description, and may include some weekend and/or evening work)

Role summary

The Marketing and Communications Officer is responsible for coordinating all areas of the organisation’s communication channels and functions to raise the brand profile and funds across the geographical footprint. This role will implement marketing campaigns and promotions by creating, distributing and optimising content. This is a dynamic role, and we are looking for an agile worker, capable of absorbing key information quickly, as well as being confident in managing a wide-ranging workload to meet the multiplicity of projects.

Main Duties
- Marketing & Brand/Corporate identity
- Working with the Head of Fundraising and Marketing, develop a marketing and communications plan to support all areas of the organisation including services, centres, fundraising and events
- Put together proposal for annual marketing budget
- Monitor and evaluate all marketing activity in line with the marketing strategy
- Input to, implement and execute the charity’s marketing strategy
- Take responsibility for the Marketing Job List, managing creation and delivery of all current and upcoming marketing activity
- Help develop and maintain a portfolio of branded assets promoting our services and ensure team members have collateral when and where they need it
- Act as a brand guardian, ensuring all communications and materials, both internal and external, follow the charity’s branding guidelines. Advise the wider team of branding requirements where necessary
- Ensure all materials reflect the charity’s mission, vision and values and tone of voice
- Ensure all new content is accessible in line with the charity’s accessibility statement
- Media relations
- Develop and maintain a strong network of media contacts across the whole geographical area
- Write and issue media releases, articles and statements
- Manage and create engaging regular e-newsletter campaigns
- Set up and oversee media interviews with staff, supporters and clients
- Respond to requests from the media for comments, views and supporting information and maximise opportunities for further engagement on relevant topics
- Liaise with the charity’s fundraisers and volunteers to further identify publicity opportunities across the geographical footprint
- Supervise and advise other members of the team in their drafting of communications plans and statements
- Respond reactively to current news and national and local health care related activity
- Website and Digital marketing
- Maintain the charity’s website using the CMS to ensure information is up to date, and liaise with our external web development agency when required
- Support long-term development projects of the website, and advise on improved usability to assist with website objectives
- Ensure website is fully optimised for search engines (SEO)
- Contribute to and take ownership of implementation of the social media strategy across the organisation
- Use social media and MailChimp analytics tools, and Google Analytics to evaluate campaigns and generate reports for the management team.
- Actively keep up to date on digital & technology developments, as well as marketing knowledge relating to the charity sector and health care industry
- Content development, Design and Production
- Work across all teams to generate engaging, bespoke content for use across the charity’s communications channels. This could include client stories, speaking to families, supporters and fundraisers, writing case studies and news articles, making short videos, displaying data & statistics and collating photos
- Lead on copywriting, editing and proofing for all marketing communications and activities
- Manage the design, production and printing of all organisational literature and promotional materials
- Liaise with external agencies including graphic designers and printers
- Manage the production of the annual newsletter brochure (May)
- Coordinate the production of the Annual Report (Oct)
- Organise/arrange photographs to go with media releases. This may involve attending events or organising to meet with clients or supporters outside of your normal working hours.
- Edit and proof all content to ensure it is appropriately tailored for each communication channel and follows our tone of voice guidelines
- Build editorial calendar to plan news stories and source content based on the marketing strategy
- Internal comms and support to funded projects
- Manage day to day, ad hoc queries and be a contact person for communication related queries
