Main duties and responsibilities

Teaching professionals looking to promote best practice in education at one of the fastest growing education companies in the UK (FT1000, 2020).

In 2023 we’ll be working with around 150 tutors, half of whom will be new to Oxford Summer Courses. This role is based in our Academic team, enabling tutors to deliver consistently high quality academic programmes in Oxford.

You’ll work with teaching, pastoral and head office staff to resolve any issues affecting student experience. Day to day, this could include discussing strategies for class management, suggesting teaching methods, observing classes and reacting to concerns.

From working behind the scenes on our improvement cycle, to problem solving on the ground, you’ll play a key part in creating the welcoming academic environment that staff and students return to year after year.

**Main duties**:

- Assist with delivery preparation, including tutor selection as required
- Review and provide constructive feedback on syllabus plans
- Arrange, carry out and report on classroom observations
- React to early signs of issues, taking steps to mitigate or escalate them as needed
- Cover classes temporarily in the event of unplanned tutor absence
- Maintain accurate records, including for compliance with safeguarding obligations

**Who are we looking for (essential)**:

- Significant experience using seminar, tutorial or similar small group teaching methods
- High standards—thorough with great attention to detail
- Proactive problem solver with a growth mindset
- Diplomatic communicator able to give constructive feedback
- Able to work well with colleagues both in person and remotely
- Reasonable IT proficiency
- Highly personable with a strong team mentality and work ethic

**You may also have (although not required)**:

- Worked at a summer school or other short course involving international students
- Experience working with colleagues to improve teaching delivery
- Teaching qualification or formal training (e.g. PGCert, TEFL, university-based training)
- Strong organisational and task management skills
- Familiarity with Oxford
- Proficiency with collaborative tools like Google Suite, Slack, and Zoom
