The IP team has seen a sharp increase in the volume of work, partly due to the prosecution associated with our increased level of patent filing but also to the increased level of interaction we see from the business on a daily basis as the IP culture is embedded. This is a development role to address this increased work load and support the increased number of attorneys and their increased scope of work and to taper/support retirement of a paralegal team member.
Support of senior IP paralegals and provide cover during any short term absences from the office.
- Various administrative tasks as required e.g. reporting search reports to inventors, communicating directly with the UK Intellectual Property Office to acquire and submit documentation, tracking status of third party IP assets, data entry in the VTIP records system
- Administrate, including generating materials for, the different Vacuum Technique intellectual property fora to facilitate smooth running thereof. - Interact with the business and external suppliers to field queries, process invoices and provide, receive and record data relating to the IP portfolio. - Support internal and external patent attorneys in managing their portfolios and extended Vacuum Technique activities
- Organisation of occasional events e.g. workshops, awards dinners, awards ceremonies, training events
- Preparing and filing other IP legal documents with national patent offices and courts
- Directly instruct external resources and attorneys in our global markets; providing timely and accurate instructions to ensure IP is maintained - Preparing and compiling reports for senior management concerning status of our IP portfolio
Education level - A’levels
- Relevant Previous experience - 2 years of working in a financial, legal or IP administrative role, demonstration of organisation abilities
- Knowledge areas/Skills - capable administrator, personal drive, attention to detail, organisation ability
- Demonstration of the following competencies:
- o Self management - whilst we will fully support your development, this is an interesting role beyond that of basic administrator, that will provide continuous challenge and satisfaction to the right candiate. Motivation to progress will be required o Planning and execution - the volume and diversity of work that we undertake within the VTIP team is significant, good organisation skills are of paramount importance (prioritisation & time mgt) o Interaction - the team is small and works closely with the business in many ways at different levels, we need to interact effectively and build our networks to facilitate efficient performance of the IP function of Communication - clearly and effectively both verbally and in correspondance with different levels of the business and external parties (such as foreign associates and patent offices)
- Other requirements - computer skills - particularly in Excel and PowerPoint, general computer literacy and attention to detail.
