- Job description 1- We need your help to protect the water environment in East Anglia. It has never been more important to manage the sustainable use of water resources, for public water supply, agriculture, and other sectors, whilst protecting and enhancing the environment.

In these key roles you will take the lead in making sound technical decisions to manage water availability to abstraction licence holders. We will train and help you to develop your skills to manage water resources.
As an Operational Water Resources Specialist, you will:

- Act as technical lead for the abstraction licensing system in East Anglia.
- Take a leading role in planning for, and responding to, droughts and dry weather incidents.
- Ensure our water resources evidence base, data, and plans are up to date and accurate.
- Liaise with external water management partners including Internal Drainage Boards and abstractor groups.
- Provide data and evidence to our regulatory teams so they can take action to protect the environment.

The team 1- You’ll join our friendly and welcoming Integrated Environment Planning team, which has experts in water quality, water resources and catchment planning. We work with internal and external partners using data and evidence to identify environmental challenges then find ways to solve them. We provide technical leadership in drought incidents, protecting the environment and managing water availability through the abstraction licensing system that we manage.
- Experience/skills required 1- You'll have excellent interpersonal and technical skills, with a relevant degree or experience, and we would particularly like to hear from you if you can show us the following:

- Experience of water resources planning and management.
- Using data and information to analyse a problem and identify solutions.
- You are familiar and comfortable working with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and Teams.
- Self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative as part of a wider team of local and national water resources planners.
- Good judgement, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Well organised, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deliver to tight timescales.

Ideally you'll have a good understanding of the water resources challenges facing East Anglia.
It would be helpful, but not essential, if you had:

- experience of the Environment Agency’s abstraction licensing regime, but full training will be given.
- a driving licence (some travel between offices).
- Contact and additional information 1- The roles will be based at our Brampton or Ipswich offices. We will accommodate working from home, but you will be required to attend your base location on a regular basis.
These are full-time posts although requests for other work patterns will be considered.
