We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with good organisational and interpersonal skills to lead on improving our catchment evidence base and developing a new programme of water framework directive investigations.
This post is a technical specialist role. The post holder will:

develop Water Framework Directive investigations where ecological elements are failing and / or where water body flows are non-compliant;
- work closely with our technical specialists and with local interest groups to prioritise a programme of investigation work;
- help to coordinate and update records of investigation outcomes and our public facing data on the Catchment Planning System;
- represent East Anglia area in national forums and implement national approaches to work planning with data and evidence;
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
The team 1- You’ll join the Integrated Environment Planning (IEP) team, containing specialists in water resources, water quality and catchment planning, working across the East Anglia Area.
We are a team of experienced advisors central to environmental decision making. We work with internal and external partners to collate, analyse and share data, providing the environmental evidence to inform our area’s priorities, and to deliver actions that maximise benefits for people and the natural environment.
- Experience/skills required 1- You should be qualified to degree level, preferably in an environmental discipline and have experience in the following areas or a willingness to learn about:

awareness of environmental legislation and an understanding of the current pressures on water quality and quantity in East Anglia;
- awareness of the Water Framework Directive and its objectives;
- communicating effectively with a wide range of customers in different situations;
- understanding, analysing and translating data and information into evidence that can be used to inform and influence decisions by technical and non-technical audiences.
- good organisational skills/discipline and the ability to plan, track, deliver and evaluate own work;
Whilst some training will be provided, experience in catchment management and water resources planning is desirable, with an ability to self-start.
