**Main purpose of the job**:
To support all activities to ensure the organisation meets its responsibilities with regard to adults, children and young people with learning disabilities and/or autism. The post holder will provide leadership, strategic direction and assurance in accordance with the national agenda and the Trust wide Learning Disability and Autism strategy to ensure recognition and delivery of key recommendations and standards across the NCA. The post holder will work collaboratively with professional practitioners both internally and externally to ensure the delivery of a whole systems approach for the identification and treatment of patients with learning disabilities and /or autism using NCA services.
The post holder will work across the 4 care organisations of the Northern Care Alliance and within a multi-agency arena, providing highly specialist evidence based knowledge and leadership on the issues affecting the health and wellbeing of people with learning disabilities and or autism in acute and community settings. The post holder will develop, coordinate and maintain relationships with service users, partner agencies, overcoming barriers and professional challenge to improve outcomes for people with learning disabilities and/or autism.

- Provide expert highly specialist advice and support across the organisation on all matters involving adults, children and young people with learning disabilities and/or autism
- To provide leadership and champion the needs of adults, children and young people with learning disabilities and/or autism across the Alliance.
- Provide effective professional leadership to the wider multi agency professional teams within the organisation and influence practice throughout the Alliance to enhance service provision/delivery
- Work collaboratively with the Lead Clinicians across the NCA to promote and ensure effective delivery of the Learning Disability and Autism Strategy including the identification (flagging) of patients with learning disabilities and/or autism and provide strategic nursing leadership and coordination to assist in the development of current and future services.
- Ensure patient, client and carer involvement in the development of services and standards
- Provide the ADNS for Safeguarding with support in implementing the Learning Disability and Autism strategy agenda across the Alliance.
- To assist the Alliance in meeting any statutory duties and/or responsibilities relating to adults, children and young people with learning disabilities and/or autism
- Interpret national and local policy and best practice and advise the Alliance accordingly ensuring that compliance is maintained.
- Ensure the Trust complies with all emerging NHS guidance relating to people with learning disabilities and/or autism
- Ensure ongoing monitoring, evaluation and review of operational arrangements in the organisation for adults, children and young people with learning disabilities and/or autism
- Contribute to the strategic planning of organisational arrangements for adults, children and young people with learning disabilities and/or autism
- Raise practice standards relating to adults, children and young people with learning disabilities and/or autism, ensuring improvements can be demonstrated.
- Ensure meeting the health and reasonable adjustment needs of adults, children and young people with learning disabilities and/or autism is embedded within the governance structures across the care organisations and alliance.
- Ensure the Trust can provide rigorous evidence that demonstrates compliance with CQC standards.
- Lead and chair the organisations Learning Disability and Autism Steering Group and relevant sub groups
- Ensure support, reviews of and appropriate feedback of all related incidents, complaints, SI and concerns relating to adults, children and young people with learning disabilities and/or autism
