An opportunity has come up to join our well established team.

Responsible for co-ordinating the implementation and maintenance of theUNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) Maternity Unit Standardsat Chelsea & Westminster hospital in order to sustain BFI Maternity accreditation and achieve Gold Award accreditation. The purpose is to support close mother and baby relationships, effective breastfeeding and safer bottle-feeding, in order to improve physical and emotional outcomes for babies and mothers and reduce health inequalities.
- Provide leadership and specialist advice in all aspects of infant feeding support and promotion of close parent-baby relationships, in collaboration with the multi-professional team and in line with local and national standards.
- The postholder will lead and manage a team of Infant Feeding Supporters.

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provide services from two main hospitals, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital, and a number of clinics across London and the South-East.

We have recently completed a £30m expansion of our adult and neonatal critical care facilities at Chelsea and Westminster and are planning an ambitious £60m development of an Ambulatory Diagnostics Centre at West Middlesex.
- Develop, review and update policies and guidelines to support the BFI standards, in consultation with all stakeholders, and in response to any new relevant information, audit results or feedback.
- Ensure all clinical staff (midwives, nurses, nursery nurses, MSWs, doctors, students) involved in the care of mothers and babies are orientated to the policy during their first week of employment.
- Plan, deliver and evaluate education programmes to allow staff (as above) to implement BFI standards according to their role.
- Develop a training curriculum for each staff education programme which includes a range of teaching methods and styles, including individual 1:1 practical skills review sessions, self-directed learning and formal classroom based or virtual teaching.
- Develop a programme of updates to ensure staff knowledge and skills are maintained and to present any new information, informed by ongoing audit results.
- Develop mechanisms to ensure that all relevant staff attend the education programme and maintain training records.
- Support the development of Infant Feeding Supporters.
