**Spire Shawfair Park Hospital is looking for an Ophthalmology Team Lead to join the team in Edinburgh. Leading a highly supportive team you will provide care to patients with all types of conditions in Ophthalmology.

You will promote excellent care and always strive for quality improvement. You will provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information and this will develop your own knowledge and skills and those of your team.

Edinburgh Shawfair Park Hospital opened in 2010 and delivers care through skilled and dedicated staff working together. We provide very high quality healthcare to patients from all over Scotland. We have three operating theatres and a cardiac catheterisation lab covering a wide range of specialities and procedure including Cardiology, Orthopaedics, Plastics and eyes. We have a number of developmental training courses and progression opportunities available for our ambitious employees.

**Duties and responsibilities**
- To lead, co-ordinate and establish clinical teams taking continuous responsibility for the management and organization of the clinical area in a courteous and patient focused manner.
- Deliver at all times high quality nursing care by assessment of patient need, implementation of care and evaluation of progress/outcomes, in line with national and corporate standards
- Work as an autonomous practitioner within the development and expansion of the ophthalmic service.
- Development and implementation of Ophthalmic Nursing Guidelines/Policies to ensure best practice and evidenced based care.

**About you**:

- Registered Nurse Qualification (Nursing and Midwifery Council) or Registered Operating Department Practitioner (Healthcare Professions Council)
- Strong experience at a senior level working within the ophthalmology in both theatre and an outpatient setting.
- Evidence of training/professional development specific to ophthalmology
- Ability to work within the strategic plan for the organisation to develop and implement change across the ophthalmology service.
- Demonstrates compassion in practice
- Able to problem solve and initiate change within a multidisciplinary workforce.
- Good IT skills or a willingness to undertake training.
