**Obstetrics and Gynaecology**

This is an opportunity to be part of the Tommy’s National Centre for Miscarriage research and The Centre for Early Life in which we excel in translational research into implantation and miscarriage (Brosens/Quenby), preterm labour (Blanks/Quenby), endometriosis (Greaves) and embryology (Hartshorne/MacAinsh). We have large collections of clinical samples and associated metadata in the Tommy’s Reproductive Health Biobank and the Tommy’s Net cohort multiple randomised controlled trial platform both of which are available to facilitate the appointee’s research.

Clinical training will be UHCW, a busy tertiary referral teaching hospital with training available in all sub-specialities of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

**Public Health**

The academic component of a Clinical Lecturer in Public Health would be based in the Division of Health Sciences, and there would be an opportunity to work with many of our internationally recognised research groups, including Warwick Evidence, Warwick Screening and the Warwick Centre for Global Health. There would also be scope and flexibility to develop your own research interests with internal and external collaborations, if preferred. Clinical training would be with the West Midlands Public Health Training Scheme, with specific training locations negotiated with the Training Programme Directors and Educational Supervisor to best align your learning needs.

**JOB PURPOSE**

You will develop a post-doctoral research programme which integrates into the interests of the WMS-based Division of Biomedical Sciences (O&G), Clinical Trials Unit (T&O) or Health Sciences (PH), depending on your specialty. You will be provided with infrastructural support, such as secretarial support and computing, and have access to collaboration in wider University departments such as the School of Life Sciences, Warwick Systems Biology, Engineering and Chemistry departments.

You will be employed by the University of Warwick and hold an Honorary Contract with a local NHS trust at the discretion of the training programme director, to suit your clinical training within the West Midlands deanery, for example University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW). At the end of the 4 years of the post it is expected that an independent research portfolio will be established with a view to progressing to a personal research award or an Associate Professor Post.

Contract duration: 4 years or until 12 months post CCT (to a maximum of 4 years total funding). Funding based on start date between 1st April 2023 and 1st September 2024.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

1. To establish a sound research base to pursue individual and collaborative
research of high quality consistent with making a full active research contribution in line with the objectives of WMS.
2. To secure, in collaboration with colleagues as appropriate, external funding through research grants or contracts to support a developing research agenda.
3. To manage research projects within the University and to supervise post-doctoral
research assistants, research students, clinical trainees and other support staff engaged in research, with support from assigned mentors.
4. To publish research outcomes in appropriate journals of international standing and to publish and disseminate the results of research and scholarship in other outlets.
5. To attend and present research findings and papers at academic and professional
conferences, and to contribute to the external visibility of WMS, Clinical Sciences
Research Laboratories and the University of Warwick.
6. To contribute fully to the research plans developed by WMS, including providing such information as may be required to monitor the progress of each member of staff’s research programme and to support WMS fully in the preparation of material required for the REF or similar activities.

**Teaching**

1. To design and be responsible for the contents of certain specific areas of teaching and learning within the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
