**The College**
**The Role**
The Science Lab Assistant will be responsible for preparing and maintaining equipment and chemicals for science practical work, supporting the Lab Technician, and assisting science staff and students during practical lessons.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Preparing and clearing away equipment and chemicals for science practical work, including preparing chemical solutions and cleaning glassware
- Ensuring the science laboratories are stocked with clean equipment
- Performing daily checks in the laboratories for stock and tidiness
- Maintaining the prep rooms, ensuring tidiness and organization
- Supporting science staff and students during practical lessons
- Conducting stocktakes of science equipment and reporting needs to the Senior Lab Technician.

**Experience and Qualifications**
- Knowledge of chemical safety and lab protocols
- Ability to prepare chemical solutions and maintain lab equipment
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Previous experience in a laboratory setting is desirable
- Experience of following safety procedures in a lab environment
- Willingness to undergo further training as required
**Role**: Part-time, 20 hours per week, term time only; Hands-on role supporting the science department; Training and support provided by the Lab Technician
**Salary**: £24,000 (pro-rata to part-time hours)
