The responsibilities for the Department for Science, Innovation & Technology for 2023 are as follows:

- Deliver key legislative and regulatory reforms to drive competition and promote innovation, including the Data Protection and Digital Information Bill, the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumer Bill and our pro-innovation approach to regulating AI.

**Job description**:
The International Data Flows Unit’s mission is to champion the international flow of data whilst keeping individual’s data safe. We do this by developing tools and mechanisms to enable flows and collaborating with partners both bilaterally and multilaterally to influence global data governance.

**Person specification**:
Main Responsibilities:
Developing strong relationships with external stakeholders, including those sitting on the Council.

Lead the cross Whitehall process to manage the refresh of the Expert Council’s membership and remit - including advising Ministers on public facing aspects (launch advert), and selection/appointment.

Ensure work programme of EC (esp. on the implementation of recommendations from the first cohort’s report) is delivered in line with Ministers’ expectations.

Ensure we have adequate opportunities to solicit and utilise Council members’ advice concerning current IDT issues via various avenues (e.g. think pieces, star chamber etc.)

Ensure work programme of EC (esp. on the implementation of recommendations from the first cohort’s report) is on track by project managing outcomes according to time scales.

Socialise and promote the work of the Expert Council to colleagues across DSIT and OGDs, and seek inputs from across government to inform and shape the Expert Council’s work programme
Monitor outputs from wider industry stakeholders and develop UK policy in response to emerging trends/initiatives as required
