HM Treasury in Darlington will be joined by the Department for International Trade, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, the Office for National Statistics, the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, the Competition and Markets Authority, the Department for Education and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.

**Enterprise and Growth Unit**

The Enterprise and Growth Unit (EGU) promotes sustainable economic growth and higher productivity for the UK. We provide analysis and advice on enterprise, innovation, private sector investment and a cost-effective transition to a low-carbon economy. The Enterprise and Growth Unit has a varied and exciting agenda and we work closely with a wide variety of other teams across the Treasury.

We also work alongside other departments and government organisations to ensure that we are thinking creatively, spending wisely and acting boldly to deliver these goals. These organisations are:

- the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy,
- the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs,
- the Department for Transport,
- the Department for International Trade,
- the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport, and
- the Competition and Markets Authority

**About the Team**

**Energy, Environment and Agriculture (EEA)**

The EEA team is a high-profile team in EGU, responsible for advising Treasury Ministers and advancing HMT’s interests in the full range of domestic energy, agricultural and environmental policy. An exciting and wide-ranging portfolio, EEA deals with some of the biggest policy challenges facing the UK.

The energy policy and markets team considered how to bring together the different parts of the energy system and ensure policy is working towards creating an efficient system as a whole; a whole that secures security of supply, decarbonisation and value for money for UK tax-payers and consumers.

The Chancellor and ministerial team have a strong interest in energy policy and see market reform as fundamental to safeguarding energy supply and transitioning to Net Zero. The expansion of the electricity and the price of energy passed to consumers is also important to other EGU and HMT goals through its contribution to growth and UK competitiveness.

We work closely with No10, Cabinet Office, BEIS, Ofgem, and with energy industry, advocacy groups and academia. These roles will necessitate close working with the Infrastructure and Projects Authority and UKGI, as well as energy and climate policy colleagues across HMT.
