The children, staff and Governors of Marlow C of E Infant School are looking to appoint a a key member of the lively, enthusiastic school team who needs to interact with a large number of people within the school community including pupils, teaching team staff, governors and parents. The communications officer will be a creative, dynamic and experienced professional who has excellent IT skills. The post is term time only and involves working throughout the school day.

The Communications Officer is a key member of the lively, enthusiastic school team who needs to interact with a large number of people within the school community including pupils, teaching and support staff, governors and parents.

They are the first point of contact for visitors to the school and as a result he/she will develop a wide range of knowledge about the school and its community.

The Communications Officer ensures that there is high quality communication about every element of the school’s work and that this reaches all stakeholders. He/she is responsible for ensuring communication systems are regularly reviewed to keep them up-to-date and accessible for all.

They will model the school values and encourage the demonstration of the school Christian Vision, ensuring that all are treated as individuals, with dignity & respect.

As a member of staff, the Communications Officer will have responsibility for the consistent implementation of the school’s policies and procedures, having a high level of commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of children.

**Main duties and responsibilities**

**Administration**
- Carry out the duties of personal assistant to the Headteacher
- Manage administration tasks such that the school is, and is perceived to be by visitors as, operating in an effective and efficient manner.
- Ensure that information for parents and pupils is at all times accurate and accessible and is carefully presented to ensure high quality communication.
- Order supplies for the office and for school, obtaining quotes where necessary and dealing with suppliers
- Organise office resources and consumables to ensure its effective operation at all times.
- Create and manage electronic data collection forms for school events, admissions etc
- Keep all information carefully filed for ease of retrieval and to maintain confidentiality
- Undertake certain administration tasks for members of the teaching team
- Attend training sessions as appropriate, normally within the usual hours of duty
- Carry out any other duties as requested by the Headteacher.

**Communication Duties**

**Marketing**
- Be responsible for contacts with the local press with regard to school events and news.
- Work with the Headteacher, and the Leadership Team on key elements of marketing the school in the local community as well as further afield.
- Communicate with school uniform suppliers with regard to the school’s requirements in terms of arranging promotional opportunities, new items of uniform and correct presentation of the school image (logo, colours etc)
- Ensure that the main entrance to the school building is kept tidy and gives a professional and welcoming image to visitors to the school.
- Liaise with local nurseries and preschools to ensure that the school is marketed appropriately at key times of year to help ensure that the school is visible when parents are choosing schools
- Ensure that the school is marketed appropriately on social media in time for key admission dates.

**Communication with stakeholders**
- Be the first point of contact for parents and other stakeholders with regard to general enquiries.
- Be responsible for the writing of the newsletter to stakeholders - making sure that all contributions are approved by the Headteacher.
- Keep up to date with any developments in technology that might improve communication with parents and other stakeholders
