Specialist Paediatric Dietitian

**Main Duties and Responsibilities of the Post**: To work autonomously within the field of Paediatric Dietetics with and be the lead for the organisation of dietetic care of children in the CEW clinics. To provide dietetic advice for the conditions related to severe excess weight. To accept clinical responsibility for this designated caseload of children and to organise this effectively with regard to clinical priorities and time management. To provide specialist dietetic-led treatment programmes and develop and source appropriate literature to support the advice and information given to children and their families.
To interpret childrens biochemical and anthropometric results in order to make appropriate changes to nutritional care plans. To negotiate and agree dietary changes with children and families using appropriate counselling, motivational and behaviour change techniques and skill. This may also involve their carers or other family members where appropriate. To undertake comprehensive assessments in accordance with protocol specifications, analysing diet diaries, providing energy prescriptions and calculation of macro / micro nutrient content of diet as required.
To contribute to multi-disciplinary working across the trust and other centres involved with the project. To be responsible for the evaluation and improvement of clinical practice using evidence based practice In discussion with the multi-disciplinary team, to provide research protocol / dietetic protocol review and design as necessary to support the clinics.
