**Salary**: £26,000 - £27,000 per annum

**Hours**: 40 per week (Monday to Friday)

**Location**: Albert Road Depot, Bristol with hybrid working

Bristol Waste Company are seeking an experienced Payroll & Accounts Administrator to join their small finance team for this newly created position with the following key responsibilities:

- Acting as a point of contact in payroll and dealing promptly with issues/ concerns raised by employees to satisfactory resolution, including attending sites to resolve payroll queries.
- Assisting the payroll coordinator with the processing of monthly payroll for approximately 850 employees, within required deadlines.
- Processing starters, leavers, changes, and relevant deductions for both payroll and pensions schemes.
- Processing and updating all statutory payments as appropriate: i.e. SSP, SMP, SPP, SAP.
- Processing pension payments, auto enrolment, and deduction of earning orders.
- Processing monthly absence data for sickness absence, other absence, jury service, compassionate leave, maternity, paternity etc.
- Assisting with the processing of monthly submissions to HMRC and other payroll related entities.
- Help to ensure an appropriate control environment is maintained.
- Assisting with payroll project work as and when it arises.
- Assisting with the administration of the cycle to work scheme.
- Communicating with HR and other internal stakeholders on payroll and people matters.
- Other tasks as required by line manager.
- Sound finance background and understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Sound knowledge of payroll and calculation of tax, NI and pension, maternity, paternity, sick pay and overtime; processing P45, P60, and deductions etc
- Strong MS Office skills, particularly Excel
- Working knowledge of appropriate legislative and regulatory requirements
- Ability to deal effectively with internal stakeholders on payroll-related matters
- Commitment to a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Flexible and positive attitude and willingness to undertake a variety of finance and payroll tasks

**Essential Criteria**:

- Experience of using Itrent or equivalent payroll system
- Relevant payroll/ finance qualification or equivalent experience in a previous role

**Desirable Criteria**:

- Recognised Accounting/Payroll Qualification or progress towards obtaining.
- Ability to propose, design and implement improvements to payroll/finance/administration processes and input documents
