We’re looking for a Learning & Engagement Officer to join the team at Camley Street Natural Park. You’ll be responsible for the outdoor learning activities at our Camley Street site, helping us to achieve our vision of London alive with nature, where everyone can experience and enjoy wildlife._**

**Role & Responsibilities**

As our Learning and Engagement Officer, you’ll plan, deliver and monitor a programme of outdoor learning activities provided by the Trust, including a curriculum linked primary schools education programme (EYFS, KS1 & 2), a family learning programme and a community outreach programme, this includes publicity & promotion, planning, activity delivery, and management and support of outdoor learning volunteers.

You’ll provide an engaging, active, needs-led outdoor learning programme focused on the natural and industrial heritage of the site for local primary schools and local families in the neighbouring boroughs, recruiting and engaging volunteers in the outdoor learning programme. You will work with the team at Camley Street Natural park acting as a visible staff presence on site, liaising with the wider teams and stakeholders as required.

Responsibilities will include:

- To expand the reach of London Wildlife Trust in the local community by engaging with underrepresented groups, delivering a community outreach programme, including working with groups with additional needs
- To deliver an onsite curriculum-linked primary schools education programme (EYFS, KS1&2)
- To plan and deliver an onsite family learning programme
- To support the recruitment, training, coordination and supervision of volunteers
- To plan for and coordinate resources for the outdoor learning programme at Camley Street Natural Park, including expenditure tracking
- To enter all required data into the Trust’s database in terms of health and safety, volunteer registration and session delivery, including monitoring and evaluating project feedback to contribute to reports for funders
- To deliver learning and engagement activities at other London Wildlife Trust sites, in schools, and at off-site ‘pop-up’ events
- To work with the site team to ensure that the volunteering and outdoor nature reserve facilities are kept clean and well-presented
- To work with the site team and volunteers to help manage visitor behaviour on the nature reserves in line with site rules by undertaking patrols and positive engagement opportunities.
- To play a role in ensuring the site is open and accessible at all practicable times, including opening every weekend; this will require the post-holder to work 5 days per week on a rota basis, which will include a minimum of two weekend days per month (maximum 4 weekend days). The post-holder will be duty manager trained and will act as duty manager on a rota basis.
- To ensure that all Trust Policy is adhered to by all staff and volunteers
- To be responsible for aspects of the reserve operation relating to visitor experience and engagement, promoting inclusivity for all demographics

**Salary**: £27,285 per annum

Tenure: Fixed term contract for three years

**Our ideal Learning & Engagement Officer**:

- Experience working within the education, nature conservation, community or heritage sectors
- Knowledge and interest in UK urban nature conservation and wildlife identification
- Demonstrable experience of delivering environmental outdoor learning and engagement programmes
- Understanding of safeguarding legislation, including associated welfare issues
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to establish effective partnerships
