The Role

Newcastle University has world class research facilities, specialist equipment and experienced staff providing testing and analytical services to researchers and other external partners (including commercial partners).

**You will work together with the following stakeholders**: FMS Director of Facilities, SAgE Analytical Facilities Manager, the University Commercial Project Coordinator and individual facility leads to develop an effective marketing strategy to identify both commercialisation opportunities and raise awareness of our scientific, analytical, nutrition and sports science facilities. You will also support the evaluation, procurement and implementation of a cross-faculty facility, project, equipment and sample management system.

You will support and manage an agreed portfolio of projects and proposals providing advice, website development, marketing, project management as required by the stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities
- Provide project management, proposal development and effective administrative support for a portfolio of activities
- Work closely with Facility Managers and leads (across all three Faculties but with focus in FMS) to identify and develop commercial opportunities. Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the requirements of external commercial and academic partners
- As identified by the stakeholders, independently manage and prioritise specific project activities. Typically, this would include: the development of promotional material and website updates
- Co-ordinate relevant cross-Faculty and Facility, project meetings and committees taking responsibility for the preparation of agendas, papers, minutes and follow-up actions. Bring together, and contribute to, the relevant project and working groups as required.
- Working with the FMS director of facilities, members of NUIT and individual facility managers, coordinate activities relating to the assessment and procurement of a facility management system to improve efficiency in facility operation and administration
- In partnership with colleagues in Marketing and the Faculties, co-ordinate activities relating to marketing, communication and profile raising as required - with a specific focus on raising awareness of the University’s research facilities and specialist equipment, in order to help to maximise the income generation of those facilities. This will include organising events, including small internal events and large external conferences, taking responsibility for marketing, sponsorship and logistics. In addition, contributing to maintaining and developing relevant websites and information resources; preparation of press releases; contributing copy to publications; preparing conference materials and displays
- Ensure the timely and accurate up-dating of all information on University systems in connection with assigned activities
- Respond effectively and speedily to requests for information and advice across the full range of enterprise activities taking lead responsibility where required. Provide mentoring and advice to other team members
- Work effectively across different Faculty teams and Central Services to ensure the timely completion of activities

- Team player with the ability to cover for a colleague’s work, sometimes at short notice, and to work effectively to deadlines
- Possess the ability to build strong relationships with a range of stakeholders such as senior University managers, Business Development Managers, academic and professional staff. External stakeholders include company partners, trade associations, other Universities and other government agencies
