Arthroplasty Surgical Care Practitioner - Department of Orthopaedics, Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre

Trained and qualified as a Surgical Care Practitioner - as per accreditation by the Royal College of Surgeons.

This is a new position in the Hip and Knee team and will contribute in the delivery of a high quality, patient centered service. The post holder will participate in all aspects of the perioperative patient pathway and will be expected to perform delegated duties with a high degree of clinical skill and knowledge.

The post holder will assess and examine patients, present them, initiate and interpret investigations and recommend treatment. They will liaise with other professions and services as required and complete all appropriate documentation.

The role will be supervised by designated consultants, who will oversee their career and ensure ongoing professional development.

The post holder will be expected to be a qualified practitioner across the Arthroplasty service.

The post holder will work under the direct supervision of a named consultant: supporting Hip and Knee Team Surgeons in the operating theatre and during any aspects of patient care and recovery. They will be expected to provide a seamless perioperative high-quality service.

The post holder will be expected to carry out invasive procedures under direct supervision of the named consultant, such as preparation of implants and bone graft; and wound closure.

The post holder will assess and examine patients, present them, initiate, and interpret investigations and recommend treatment.

It is envisaged that the role will develop flexibly over time in line with current clinical and research needs within the Hip and Knee Arthroplasty service. The post holder will continuously progress and adapt to deliver high standards of effective evidence based care to meet the needs of arthroplasty patients.
