**Role responsibilities**
- The Climate Adaptation and Resilience Lead will be the technical specialist at Transport for Wales (TfW) and for our subsidiaries, across all modes of transport. The role will lead on our climate change risk assessments, analysing the risk and providing advice on climate change adaptation at a technical and site-based level to ensure we are delivering our response to the risks presented. by a changing climate.
- Undertake Climate Change Risk Assessments on the Core Valley Lines and other projects by working collaboratively with internal teams to reduce the impact of climate change to our network and operations.
- Lead project teams and external consultants to assess climate risk by using TfW’s Climate Change Risk Assessment Framework to ensure climate resilience is factored into project designs and plans.
- Lead the Asset Management and Engineering teams to develop innovative, climate change adaptation solutions by providing technical expertise on assessing climate risk/ researching and disseminating current climate adaptation advice and best practice to ensure TfW can deliver on our Climate Adaptation and Resilience Plan objectives.
- Develop and produce regular reports on TfW’s climate risk appetite and adaptation progress by analysing our climate risk data and climate adaptation maturity matrix in line with best practice and regulatory guidance, including the Taskforce on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures to ensure our decision-makers and stakeholders are kept informed
**Who we’re looking for**
- Demonstrable experience of undertaking climate change risk assessments and utilising climate projections data and site-based information to assess climate risk.
- Experience of developing and delivering climate change adaptation projects.
- Good knowledge and understanding of current climate science, policy and technical advice relating particularly to climate risk and adaptation.
**Welsh Language Skills**
Transport for Wales supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language by employees and will encourage them to develop, improve and maintain their Welsh Language skills. **Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, sustainability, or a related field
- Proven experience in climate adaptation, resilience planning, or related fields
- Strong knowledge of climate change impacts, adaptation strategies, and resilience frameworks
- Excellent presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences
- Proficiency in using Adobe Captivate or similar software for creating engaging educational materials
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct research and analyze data related to climate change impacts
