**Job Title**: Teaching Assistant with Challenging Behavior Experience

**Location**: Pontypridd, NURSERY & RECEPTION Schools

**Overview**:
**Responsibilities**:

- Support the classroom teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons, ensuring all students can access the curriculum.
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with challenging behavior, implementing strategies to manage and de-escalate difficult situations.
- Foster positive relationships with students, promoting a supportive and nurturing learning environment.
- Assist in the creation and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with behavioral needs, monitoring progress and adjusting strategies as necessary.
- Collaborate with the school's SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other staff members to develop and implement behavior management strategies and interventions.
- Encourage and promote positive behavior through praise, encouragement, and rewards, reinforcing desired behaviors.
- Act as a role model for students, demonstrating patience, empathy, and respect in all interactions.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavior incidents, and interventions, in accordance with school policies.
- Support students during transitions between activities or locations, ensuring a smooth and safe transition.
- Attend meetings, training sessions, and workshops as required to further develop skills and knowledge in behavior management and special education.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum of one year of experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in a primary school setting.
- Proven experience in managing challenging behavior, with a sound understanding of behavior management strategies and techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
- Patient, resilient, and adaptable, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and emotional well-being, with a commitment to inclusive education.
- Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 3 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent are desirable but not essential.
- Willingness to undergo relevant background checks, including an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
