Clinical Practice Educator

**Responsibilities**: Promote a patient focused approach to care in collaboration with all members of the multidisciplinary team within IHG, with an emphasis on promoting a patient safety culture. Maintain and develop perioperative and specialist clinical knowledge to facilitate the delivery of the expert advice and support across IHG. Maintain awareness of local, national, and professional expectations relevant to the delivery of perioperative care, patient safety and the expectations of commissioners and regulators (CQC) Ensure risks, incidents and shared learning are used as an opportunity to create a learning environment where challenge is welcomed. Maintain own clinical competence to be able to work clinically and maintain an authentic and credible presence.
Working with identify training needs for staff and for orientation, induction, and on-going programmes of training and education for all staff within the clinical environment. Review and develop appropriate orientation, competency training and assessment of knowledge packages across the business. Manage the development of a range of training packages and resources including competencies, workbooks, e-learning, face to face presentations, and hands on supervision in clinical areas, organising access to external training if required. Ensure the training interventions prepared and delivered are regularly updated in line with new research and best practice, organisation policy, NHS Guidelines and National Guidance.
Provides both formal and informal support for individuals within the clinical environment acting as a resource to support the Professional Development of other staff. Foster a culture of lifelong learning and continuous professional development. Participate in the corporate development of Nursing/AHP workforce through contributing to the wider organisational agenda. To support the development, facilitation and participate in the teaching of a competency and knowledge-based induction programme for new staff to the clinical environment.
Support the development of competency based educational packs for nursing staff within the clinical environment. Develop and review, policies, and SOPs, relevant to the perioperative environment where required. To be highly visible, accessible, and approachable so that communication channels are improved and discussions on care delivery are facilitated in a timely manner. Ensure patients come first and their experience is at the centre of all care decisions and developments in clinical practice.
