Through senior clinical mentorship and within a designated timescale, the post holder will develop into an independent practitioner providing expert advice, improved patient outcomes with a high level of clinical competence, on completion of the following modules delivered & validated through an approved UK University:

- Interpretation and reporting in mammography.
- Advanced principles & practice of breast ultrasound.
- Advanced principles and practice of breast interventional technique.

The 4 pillars of their consultant practice will develop with a strong focus on the clinical element. It is anticipated that post holder will also gain competence in clinical breast examination and advance communications skills

Lead by example and provide clinical leadership, motivating and inspiring others to deliver best practice to develop and maintain a patient focused seamless service of the highest quality clinical standards across professional boundaries within breast imaging the assessment and one stop clinics.

A decision maker, with regard to the direct management of patient care within the triple assessment team. Judge whether the results of the diagnostic imaging are concordant with the presented pathological findings, and decide on further imaging and biopsy when appropriate and be an effective member of the multidisciplinary team and be responsible for and help to advise the correct treatment and management.

To commence when appropriate a qualification at Masters level in breast imaging or mammography.

To continue to remain competent to practice and to maintain skills by performing Advanced Practice.

Whilst training in a 3rd advanced practice skill, the post holder must remain competent in the 2 advanced practice disciplines for which they are already qualified and competent in. This will be achieved by performing these skills for a minimum of 40% of their working time (20% per discipline as required).
