**MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST/ADMINISTRATOR (PART-TIME- 30HRS)**

Our Practice, based in the Jewellery Quarter of Birmingham, is looking to recruit an experienced Medical Receptionist who understand the needs and demands of General Practice so previous experience is necessary.

**1. **Greet patients and visitors to the practice.

**2. **Book in, amend and cancel patient appointment online with practice appointments procedures ensuing optimum efficiency of the appointment system.

**3. **Ensure that patients without appointments but who need 'urgent consultations’ are booked into appropriate slots and referred to a GP where necessary.

**4. **Answering incoming telephone calls, ensuring calls are documented and redirected accordingly.

**5. **Receive and accurately record requests for home visits, assessing urgency in accordance with the Practice’s protocols. Print off home visit summary sheets.

**6. **Ensure computerised appointment system is up-to-date. Have understanding of various types of appointments slots.

**7. **Respond and/or redirect all patient and visitor requests sign posting accordingly.

**8.** Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and temporary residents, ensure procedures are completed.

**9. **Set-up of new patients onto the computer system. Understand registration procedure

**10.** Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, accept payment and issue receipts for same.

**11. **Produce repeat prescriptions and FPS requests according to practice procedures and ensure timely distribution of completed prescriptions. Check review dates and prompt clinicians

**13. **Ensure correspondence, reports, results etc. are filed electronically in correct patient record.

**14. **Ensure reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy

**15. **Re-stocking of information leaflets as appropriate, notice board checking for latest information

**16. **Undertake administration tasks as allocated on rota organised by Manager

**17. **Action start and end of day procedures ensure for out of hours information is directed appropriately - check to answer machine at close of business each day and also on bank holiday message in place

**18. **Ensure up-to-date maintenance of both computerised and manual filing systems (i.e. patient notes).

**20. **Opening and closing surgery

**21. **Work safely at all times in accordance with Legislative requirements and Practice Policy and Procedures.

**22. **This job description is not exhaustive and may be adjusted periodically after review and consultation. You will also be expected to carry out any reasonable duties, which may be requested from time-to-time.

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: £10.42 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

- BIRMINGHAM: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:
